Junior Java Engineer
VA - Alexandria

Where You Come In
This opening presents an extremely exciting opportunity for an early career level developer to provide applied software engineering expertise to create innovative solutions in the delivery of knowledge development, visualization, management and communication requirements. You will base your activities out of our Washington DC-area Headquarters overlooking the Potomac River in historic Alexandria, VA, but will be called upon to work at various customer sites as needed in the capacity described below.

Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with colleagues in executing the delivery of complex yet coherent end-to-end systems on time and within coding standards
- Take ownership of your work to ensure excellence in execution
- Demonstrate attention to detail and a desire to build and test quality code
- Showcase expertise in developing new software capabilities
- Stay on top of cutting-edge technology
- Work closely with other SAI teams, including Product Integration, Configuration Management, Product Engineering, Product Management, and Program Management to ensure successful deployment of our products and services
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field (or projected graduation with such a degree within 12 months) with a strong GPA from a highly reputable institution
- Understanding of Java language fundamentals
- Ability to acquire and maintain a security clearance
- Must be a US Citizen
Preferred Qualifications:
Familiarity with some combination of the following:
- Using standard Source Code Management (SCM) and build tools - Git and Maven
- Data Extract, Transform, Load (ETL) concepts and components - Kafka
- Database languages - HQL, SQL and PostgreSQL
- Indexing components - Lucene and SOLR
- Frameworks - Spring and Angular
- Scripting and data formats - JavaScript, Velocity, BeanShell, XML, and JSON
- Linux
