Senior Engineer (DevOps/Cloud/CM)

Job Responsibilities:
This is a Senior Engineer position as the East Coast focal point representing Semantic AI’s DevOps/Cloud/CM & IT teams, requiring a highly skilled and versatile individual with a strong ability to work independently taking high-level directions and putting the solution in place. You will base your activities at our Washington DC-area Headquarters overlooking the Potomac River in historic Alexandria, VA, but maybe periodically called upon to work at various customer sites as needed in the capacity described below. You will collaborate with West Coast-based colleagues, managing, monitoring, maintaining, and enhancing company and customer AWS / Azure infrastructure, covering CM/CI/CD servers, development servers, internal and external application servers, supporting the development and other teams, to meet company’s fast-growing business needs.
Minimum Education, Experience & Clearance Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Electrical Engineering or equivalent with relevant skills
- Five (5) to Ten (10) years of relevant experience
- Secret clearance (highly desired)
- Ability to acquire and maintain a security clearance (required)
Minimum Technical Qualifications:
- In-depth knowledge of Linux specifically CentOS/RedHat 7 including system, services, users, networking, security etc.
- Strong expertise in setting up, securing, managing, and monitoring CentOS/RedHat 7 servers
- Strong scripting skills including Bash, another scripting/programming languages
- In-depth knowledge of AWS including VPC, EC2, Security, Access and Costs Management
- Strong expertise in setting up, securing, managing, and monitoring AWS infrastructure
- Strong expertise in at least 2/3rd of the following:
- Setting up and managing Linux servers including Jenkins, Nexus, Chef, Nagios, Nginx, Fortify SSC, Nessus, Kafka, Elasticsearch, Logstash, Kibana, PostgreSQL, Greenplum etc.
- Azure infrastructure including Virtual Network, Compute, Security, Access
- CI/CD including Jenkins, build agents, automation scripts
- Infrastructure as Code (IaC), Terraform, Packer
- Docker, Kubernetes, AWS ECS
- CM tools, processes, and best practices, including Git
- TLS, SSH, Security Certificates, GPG, encryption, networking, and security
- Backups and restores, disaster recovery, and high availability
- Sonatype Nexus repository manager, yum repos, Docker registry
- Understanding and ability to support always-on, always up services including being on call 24/7 and handling infrastructure issues in real-time
Desired Qualifications:
- Supporting Java development, good knowledge of Maven and poms
- Software packaging, including rpm, Install4j
- Atlassian servers and cloud-hosted services, including Bitbucket, JIRA
- Supporting Agile software development teams
- Overall 3 to 5-year experiences with strong to expert level skills in many (not necessarily all) of the tools and technologies listed above
- Overall 3 to 5-year experience with installation, maintenance, and administering Linux servers, services, and applications
- Strong ability to work independently taking high-level directions and putting the solution in place
- Fast learner, ability to research and pick up new technologies and skills
