Where You Come In
This opening presents an extremely exciting opportunity for an experienced system administrator seeking a team leadership position. As the senior member of the IT / DevOps Department at Semantic AI, you will manage a team of systems administrators and DevOps engineers to implement and support internal development systems, CI/CD systems, QA systems, demonstration systems used by sales and customer production systems. You will base your activities out of our San Diego, CA headquarters directly overlooking San Diego Bay and Shelter Island.
Responsibilities
You will lead your team as a player/coach ensuring effective and efficient Microsoft Office 365 administration, AWS management, Linux server deployment, virtualization, containerization, Postgres, and Greenplum database installation along with CI/CD implementation using Jenkins, BitBucket, Bamboo, etc.
Required Skills
Experience with CI/CD tools and concepts
Experience with cloud services like Azure or Amazon Web Services
Five (5)+ years of systems administration and engineering experience in a Linux-centric environment
Experience writing system scripts and utilities in Python, Perl, Bash, etc.
Administration of Postgres and other database systems
Experience with virtual machines and containerization, including technology and concepts such as Kubernetes and Docker
Ability to create and maintain documentation
Experience managing engineering teams, both operationally (project-focused) and administratively (people-focused)
Desirable Skills
Greenplum database administration
AWS governance and cost control experience
Management of large quantities of virtual servers
Scripting languages such as Python, Perl, Bash, etc.
Familiarity with information systems security concepts and best practices as well as implementation – especially as pertains to a cloud-based environment and remote workplace
Azure Active Directory experience
Experience with automation tools such as Ansible
Experience with inventory and asset management
Ability to solve a variety of problems & shift priorities quickly
Strong project management skills; able to take a goal from start to finish with little supervision
Strong interpersonal skills; able to effectively interact with all levels of staff and work as an effective team leader
Cooperative and service-oriented attitude; must be able to work under pressure while maintaining a professional demeanor
